Consultations are by appointment and can be arranged directly with us or via a referral from your dentist. During your initial consultation we would take a medical history and the orthodontist will listen to what aspects of your smile you wish to change as well as perform a clinical examination of your mouth and teeth. We may take study models and intra oral photographs for record keeping. We may even take a radiograph should it be necessary. The orthodontist will discuss suitability for treatment and give a broad overview of treatment options.
Should you be interested in the treatment options discussed, we would then schedule a follow up appointment to discuss final treatment plans in detail, with your cast study models, radiographs and photographs. Subsequently a clinical report will be sent to both you and your dentist outlining the treatment plan.

NHS:
We provide the same expertise treatment planning to all our patients, NHS or Private. We offer free NHS treatment to patients under the age of 17 whose orthodontic problem falls within the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Needs (IOTN) guidelines. This is also dependent on the amount of funding our practice receives and we will offer orthodontic treatment on a first come, first served basis, while funding is available. We do have a waiting list for NHS treatment and our reception staff will be able to update you to the waiting times.
What you need to pay for as an NHS patient:
- The replacement of removable appliances, functional appliances or retainers due to loss or breakage
- All sundries purchased
- Sports mouthguards
Private
Should you choose to undergo private treatment at our surgery, we will discuss the cost and payment methods with you at the initial consultation stages. Costs are confirmed in writing before treatment commences. Cost is dependent on the age of the patient, the duration of the treatment, type of braces (Invisalign, removable, fixed).
We ask for an initial deposit and the remainder is paid over either an 18 month or 24 month period, by means of standing order, with no additional interest charges.
Private fees include 12 months of retention supervision.
