What we ask from you

To get the best results we need to work together as a team. We provide specialist qualification and we need you to be as committed to shaping your new smile as we are!

As you are an active participant, we will ask you to:

  • Understand that there is discomfort for a few days after appliances have been fitted. Please be patient while your mouth adjusts to these changes
  • Avoid eating certain foods. These are mostly sticky, hard and sweet! They cause the braces to become unstuck and if they stick to the brace, may start a decaying process
  • Do not abuse your braces
  • Don’t click removable braces in and out, this loosens and may eventually break them, prolonging treatment times
  • Don’t pick at your fixed braces, chew pencils and/or pens and stop nail biting
  • Please keep your appointments – these are scheduled at time intervals and too long or too short intervals mean longer treatment times. Please reschedule as soon as possible so we can try and accommodate you without too much time delay
  • Do keep your teeth clean. Healthy, clean mouths do not have swollen or bleeding gums and we provide a range of brushes to help you keep your teeth beautiful, even with braces. You may also be advised to use a fluoride mouthwash
  • Please wear removable appliances and elastic bands as specified
  • Let us know if anything goes wrong so we can advise accordingly. Some problems can wait until the next appointment, but some need to be addressed as soon as possible
  • Continue to see your dentist for regular check-ups
