Tom EOTom Weir – Practice Manager

Tom joined the practice in October 2015 as the new Practice Manager for Epsom Orthodontics.
Tom’s previous experience includes 4 and a half years as a dual site practice manager in an NHS & Private dentistry setting.

Tom also has experience of international healthcare, before joining the practice he spent 6 months in Toronto, Canada, observing the Toronto General Hospitals Lung Transplant Program whilst acting as the primary care-giver for his uncle who had a successful lung transplant.

He is a qualified practice manager, having completed the ILM Level 5 Diploma in Dental Practice Management in 2012, whilst also having previous qualifications as an Advanced Personal Fitness Trainer.

In his spare time Tom enjoys maintaining a high standard of personal fitness, socialising with friends and family, following the ups and downs of Crystal Palace Football Club and playing for his local football team which he captains.

Charlotte TC Epsom Charlotte – Treatment Co-ordinator

Charlotte joined the practice in March 2016 as our Treatment Co-ordinator, having worked in general practice for 8 years. She has over 5 years experience dental nursing and has a huge knowledge of dentistry, including implants, endodontics, and more.

Her previous qualifications include the ILM Level 5 Diploma in Practice Management, NEBDN Qualification in Dental Radiography and NVQ Level 3 in Customer Services.

Charlotte enjoys seeing patients from the very start of their journey to the final appointment, and seeing how their orthodontic treatment can transform their smile.

In her spare time she enjoys socialising with her friends and partakes in Charity runs/walks; with the aim to run the London Marathon in the future.

Lauren Smoothy RDN, Dip Orth (Warwick) – Orthodontic Therapist

Lauren joined the practice in 2006; prior to this she had been working in general practice for 6 years. During this time she trained and qualified to be a Dental Care Professional enabling her to be registered with the General Dental Council.
During her time with our practice Lauren has continued her professional development and gained further qualifications in;

•    Dental Radiography
•    Certificate in Orthodontic Nursing

In 2008 after completing a project case study completion with TOC Lauren achieved Orthodontic Nurse of the Year. Lauren has gone on to study at Warwick University Medical School and has been awarded a Diploma in Orthodontic Therapy. In her spare time Lauren organises fund raising events for the Orthodontic Therapy Charity commission. She enjoys going to the gym, horse riding and socialising with her friends and family.

Lauren, who qualified in 2011, was awarded the prize for the most outstanding Orthodontic Therapist student in her year.

Babsie Grobler, RDN, Dip Orth (Warwick) – Orthodontic Therapist

Babsie has been involved in orthodontics since 1998, and initially she spent time in the administration team at Guildford Orthodontics.

Since 2004, she has trained and qualified to be a Dental Care Professional enabling her to be registered with the General Dental Council. During her time at Guildford Orthodontics, Babsie has continued her professional development and gained further qualifications in:
•    Dental radiography
•    Certificate in Orthodontic Nursing

In 2011 Babsie went on to study at Warwick University Medical School and has been awarded a Diploma in Orthodontic Therapy. The Practice is very proud of her considerable achievements and this privileged role will enhance our service to patients.  Babsie is a busy working Mum with two delightful daughters and enjoys tennis in her spare time.

Babsie, was awarded the prize for the most outstanding Orthodontic Therapist student in 2012.

Cherie Swanepoel, RDN, Dip Orth (Warwick)  Orthodontic Therapist

Cherie’ qualified in 1998 as an Oral Hygienist from the University of Stellenbosch, Cape Town, when she was awarded a Diploma in Oral Hygiene.
During her time in Stellenbosch, she worked doing community service organised by the Department of Health. This included oral hygiene sessions on children with special needs in Schools for the disabled. She also worked on the Health Train “The Phelophepa “which aimed to provide services to less privileged communities.

Subsequently, from 1998 to 2001 she worked in a Specialist Orthodontic Practice as Oral Hygienist and Dental Therapist, with the practice owner Dr Amos Lambrechts who was also a lecturer at the University of Stellenbosch.
Cherie also played a key role in starting Dental Sense, a dental practice and shop in a busy shopping centre, where she helped running the shop floor, advised patients and worked part-time as hygienist.

In 2001 she joined the practice at Epsom Orthodontics and later helped at our Guildford practice also. During this time she continued her professional development and gained further qualifications in:

  • Dental Nursing
  • Orthodontic Nursing
  • Certificate in Dental Radiography

Her desire was always to return to working on patients like before and she realised this ambition in 2011 when she was awarded a Diploma in Orthodontic Therapy from Warwick Medical School.
Cherie’ is the proud mother of two young boys,  and enjoys kayaking, mountain biking and working on her own recipe book in her spare time as she loves cooking and baking.

Christina Jones, RDN, Dip Orth (Warwick) – Orthodontic Therapist

We are very proud that Christina has been awarded a Diploma in Orthodontic Therapy from The University of Warwick, in July 2014.

During her time at Epsom Orthodontics, she has gained further qualifications in:

• Dental Radiography
• Certificate in Orthodontic Nursing

Christina has been in dentistry since 2002 and has experience in general dentistry, endodontics, oral surgery, implants and orthodontics.

She is also a Mum to two lovely children who keep her quite busy. Any spare time that Christina has is spent with her family, going on long walks and swimming.

Miriam McCormack Orthodontic Nurse

A dental nurse since 2003 Miriam joined the Epsom team in October 2009. Miriam came from general practice having qualified in dental nursing in 2005 further qualifying in radiography in December 2008.

Since being at Epsom Orthodontics Miriam has studied further to achieve her certificate in orthodontic nursing. Miriam would like to pursue her career path further to that of Orthodontic Therapist. If time this busy nurse Miriam can be found practicing martial arts, playing badminton or hiking.

Elena Abbasi Dental Nurse

Elena joined our Epsom team in August 2009. Elena qualified and registered as a dental nurse in general practice in 2007. Since being with us Elena has successfully qualified in radiography also.

What Elena most enjoys about the role is the interaction with patients and shares with them her love for life. She enjoys time with family, walking and listening to music.

Tipaporn ‘Jum’ Walker  Orthodontic Nurse

Jum has been on the team since team October 2006. Jum qualified as a dental nurse in 2003. Secured her radiography qualification in December 2005 and during her time at Epsom has achieved her national certificate in orthodontic nursing in January 2010.

Jum is busy in her spare time with bow and arrow as she represents the southern region and does very well setting her competitors all a quiver with her talents. Cross stich & photography .

 Sophie Bonsall Dental  Nurse

Sophie joined our Epsom team in January 2010. Sophie qualified and registered as a dental nurse in general practice in 2009. Since being with us Sophie has successfully qualified in radiography also.

Sophie enjoys being part of a team that creates smiles and caring for patients. In her spare time Sophie can be found socialising and keeping fit. A favourite pastime is swimming.
